Australian Freestyle Combat

Mick Nicholls has taught Personal Protection through Martial Arts for over 30 years.

Evolving since 1979, Freestyle Combat is a unique Martial Art that effectively blends elements of;

  • Karate
  • Kali (Filipino martial art) - both empty hand, stick and other weapons.
  • Muay Thai
  • Jeet Kune Do
  • Boxing
  • Grappling & Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
  • Close Quarter Combat (Krav Maga and Combative's)

At Freestyle you concentrate on developing your personal defensive skills, through the practice of a unique, effective and enjoyable system.

Freestyle Combat is recognised in Australia through our association with;

  • Australian Kung-Fu (Wu-Shu) Federation
  • Martial Arts Industry Association

(Both of these organizations are nationally recognized by the Australian Sports Commission)

Classes are conducted under the strict guidelines as set down by these associations in regard to class safety and instructor qualifications.

Your Instructors are qualified with;

  • Level 1 first aid qualification - Minimum
  • National Coaching Accreditation Scheme (Australian Sports Commission); or

  • National Martial Arts Instructors Accreditation Scheme (Martial Arts Industry Association); or

  • Level 1 Accreditation (Martial Arts Industry Association) to an instructor who has qualified as a minimum Certificate III Community Recreation (Instruct).

Freestyle is a family oriented system and our classes are designed for you to have fun in a very safe, and friendly training environment.

Muay Thai Kickboxing and Panantuken

Our kickboxing system follows a progressive graded syllabus, which is designed to give you the means to defend yourself.
The system combines Muay Thai and Filipino Panantuken which is the empty hand portion of Kali/Escrima/Arnis. Both of these practical systems are personal protection based.
